Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors and welcome you into our home which is a spacious four bedroom bed and breakfast accommodation. The following statement is a summary of our provision.  If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will hopefully be able to help you.

Pre-Arrival

●                     There is a bus stop across the road from Damara House operated by Western Greyhound.

●                     The main train station is Bodmin Parkway which is approx 15 miles from Padstow.

●                     The nearest Airport is Newquay is approx 10 miles from Padstow.

●                     There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required.

●                     We have a very informative website www.damarahouse.co.uk.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

●                     As you come into Grenville Road turn immediately left. Damara House is at the end of the quiet cul de sac on the right.

●                     On arrival you will see a sign for Damara House at the entrance to our resident’s car park

●                     There are 4 spaces marked with stones.  Each space is 2.5m wide and 9m long.

●                     There is one space per room. Any party bringing more than one car per room is requested to park the cars one behind the other.

●                     The surface is gravel sloping down to a 84 cm gate.

●                     The gate leads to a patio which has a 6 cm lip to it. Patio is 510 cm long.

●                     The patio leads to the front door.

●                     We are unable to assist with your luggage.  If you require assistance please request in advance so that help can be found.

●                     The harbour, shops and restaurants are approx between 8-10 minute walk.  This is uphill coming back.

Main Entrance & Reception

●                     On your arrival there should be someone here to welcome you.  If not, your keys will be left in a prominent place, 

●                     You will be provided with a front door key and bedroom door key and access is available at all times.

●                     The outer porch door is 86 cm wide. There is a 12 cm step up into the door.

●                     The front door is 80 cm wide.  There is a 10 cm step before the door and the re is a 6 cm step over the threshold.

●                     On entry into our home there is an L shaped hallway which is 215 &115 cm wide and 510 cm in length to the stairs.

●                     The hallway is wood laminate and the stairs are carpeted with corded carpet.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

●                     A 74 cm door leads into the dining room which has a wood laminate floor.

●                     All the outside lights are motion sensitive and come on automatically.

●                     The dining room is on the ground floor next to the front door

●                     Both bedrooms are on the first floor with 15 stairs leading to them.  There is a mezzanine floor after 12 steps.

●                     The stairs are 25 cm deep, 86 cm wide with a hand rail on one side.

Public Areas - WC

●                     Bedrooms are ensuite but no public WC available.

Dining Room

●                     Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor.  There are no steps.

●                     All 4 tables are circular 100cm in diameter with height of the 74cm (the tables have a central pillar with 4 feet splaying off). 

●                     The chairs do not have arms.

Laundry

●                     Laundry is available for a small fee.  Please see tariff for details.

●                     We do not do ironing but ironing boards and irons are available in all rooms.

Shop

●                     Tesco Store approx 1-2 minute walk from Damara House.

Leisure Facilities

●                     Wadebridge Sports Centre which is approx 7 miles from Padstow.

Outdoor Facilities

●                     Tennis Courts available in Padstow, Golf, Sailing, Fishing, Water Skiing nearby.

●                     Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

Piran Room

●                     There are 2 3ft beds side by side which are 36cm high with a shelf behind the m.

●                     The room has a fridge and ironing board and iron.

●                     The carpet is short pile throughout.

●                     The walls are painted white.

●                     There are 2 cane armchairs.

●                     Digital television with remote control, video and wireless internet access.

●                     The room has thermostatically controlled central heating.

●                     Free standing floor fans are available upon request.

●                     Floor space is 290 cm x 190cm.

●                     The bathroom door is 68 cm and opens outwards.

●                     The bathroom is painted white.

●                     The shower has a mixer tap.

●                     The cubicle shower edge/step is 30cm.

●                     The basin is rounded and is 79cm high.

●                     The toilet is 40cm high.

Trelawney Room

●                     Shower ensuite bathroom.

●                     The main bedroom door opens inwards and is 76 cm in width.

●                     There are is a 3ft bed against the wall with a bedside cabinet beside.

●                     The room has a fridge and ironing board and iron.

●                     The carpet is short pile throughout.

●                     The walls are painted white.

●                     There is an upright chair.

●                     Digital television with remote control, DVD and wireless internet access.

●                     The room has thermostatically controlled central heating.

●                     Free standing floor fans are available upon request.

●                     Floor space is 147 cm x 140 cm.

●                     The bathroom door is 68 cm and opens inwards.

●                     The bathroom is painted white.

●                     The shower has a mixer tap.

●                     The cubicle shower edge/step is 30 cm.

●                     The basin is rounded and is 79cm high.

●                     The toilet is 40cm high.

Prideaux Room

●                     Shower ensuite bathroom.

●                     There is a 4’6” double bed with beside tables either side of the bed.

●                     The room has a fridge and ironing board and iron.

●                     The carpet is short pile throughout.

●                     The walls are painted white.

●                     There is an upright chair

●                     The room has thermostatically controlled central heating.

●                     Free standing floor fans are available upon request.

●                     Floor space is 130 cm x 90 cm.

●                     The bathroom door is 68cm and opens inwards.

Lodenek Room

●                     There is a 3ft bed against the wall with a large shelf beside.

●                     The room has a fridge and ironing board and iron.

●                     The carpet is short pile throughout.

●                     The walls are painted white.

●                      A fold up chair is available on request.

●                     Widescreen LCD digital HD Television with remote control and wireless internet access.

●                     The room has thermostatically controlled central heating.

●                     Free standing floor fans are available upon request.

●                     Floor space is 180 cm x 62 cm.

●                     The bathroom door is 68 cm and slides.

●                     The bathroom is painted white.

●                     The shower has a power shower.

●                     The cubicle shower edge/step is 30 cm.

●                     The basin is rounded and is 79 cm high.

●                     The toilet is 40 cm high.

●                     The shower room has a thermostatically controlled heated towel rail.

Grounds and Gardens

●                     There is a south facing patio beside the front door and car park for guests use.

●                     There are 3 tables and 6 chairs on the patio for guests use at all times.  Breakfast may be taken here.

●                     The rear garden is private and is not for guest’s use.

Fire precautions

●                     We are a non smoking Bed and Breakfast.  Guests are permitted to smoke on the patio and there is a receptacle there for used cigarette butts.

●                     We have a main fire alarm system with sensors and sounders in all rooms.

●                     We have emergency lighting to light the landing, stirs and hall in case of a power cut.

●                     All internal doors are ½ hour fire doors with intermessant strips and door closers.

●                     The bedroom locks do not need a key to lock.  They do not require a key to be unlocked from the inside.

●                     There is a foam fire extinguisher on each floor.

●                     There are clear instructions in case of a fire.

Additional Information

●                     Mobile phone reception is intermittent but is better upstairs than down.

●                     We do not have any facilities for Children under 12.

●                     We do not take pets except Guide Dogs.

●                     Open All Year.

●                     Facilities are for current residents only.
